栄橋のブロンズ像(Bronze Statue on Sakae Bridge)

栄橋は海老川の下流に架かる橋です。
その橋にある像は、"手のひらを太陽に”をイメージしています。
この写真を撮ったのは夕暮れ前で、陽は後ろに傾いていました。
いつか、太陽がこの像の上にある時に、撮りなおしてみたいと思っています。

Sakae bridge is a bridge over down stream of the Ebigawa River.
Image of that statue comes from a famous Japanese song for children, "Teno Hira o Taiyou ni (when you hold your palms up to the sunshine)".
I took this photo late in the afternoon, and the sun was behind the statue.
I think I will try to capture the statue again when the sun is above it.

河口への入り口(Entrance to the River Mouth)

船橋市街から海老川に沿って南へ歩き、国道14号を渡ると、この街が東京湾に面していることを実感するでしょう。

この写真は川の西側から撮影しました。この中に見える橋は分岐する短い運河に架かる橋です。
風は無く穏やかな日で、水面は静かでした。

If you walk along the Ebigawa River from the city center of Funabashi toward the South and pass across Route 14, you will realize that this city is faced to Tokyo bay.

I took this photo from the west side of the river.  The bridge in this photo is a bridge over a short canal which branches from the river.
It was calm day and the water was still.

河口近くの家並み(Row of Houses near the River Mouth)

東京湾に注ぐ海老川の河口付近の風景です。
川沿いに並んだ家々は漁師さんたちの家でしょうか。
対岸からみると,その家並みはまるで水の上に建っているように見えます。

a view near the river mouth of the Ebigawa River which lead to Tokyo bay.
I wonder if those houses along the river are fishermen's.
When I look it from the opposite side of the river, it looks like those buildings are on the water.

小さな漁船たち(Small Fishing Boats)

船橋漁港の水門の内側にあるボートパークには、沢山の小さな漁船が並んでいます。
これらの漁船はアサリ等の貝を捕る船です。

Many small fishing boats stay at a boat park located inside the sluice gate in Funabashi fishing port.
Those boats are for catching clams.

船橋大神宮(Funabashi Daijingu Shrine)

船橋大神宮は長い歴史のある神社であり、地元の船橋の人たちから大変親しまれています。
正式な名称は　"意富神社(おおひじんじゃ)" といいます。
正月には、多くの人たちが初詣に訪れます。

Funabashi Daijingu Shrine is a Shinto shrine with a long history, and has been loved by local people in Funabashi.
Formal name of the shrine is "Ohi Jinja".
In every new year, so many people make the first shrine visit of the year at the shrine.

散りゆく河津桜(Kawazu Cherry Blossoms after Full Bloom)

今日、海老川に河津桜を見に行ってきました。
川津桜は早咲きの桜の一種です。
木の下には、濃いピンク色の花びらがたくさん落ちていました。

Today, I visited the Ebigawa River to view Kawazu cherry blossoms.
Kawazu cherry is a variety of early blooming cherry blossoms.
There were many deep pink petals under the trees.

雲と河口(Clouds and the River Mouth)

海老川は船橋の中心街を流れ、東京湾にそそぎます。
私がその河口へ行ったとき、印象的な雲が水面に映りこんでいました。
